Matthew McBee currently serves as research and evaluation specialist for GEAR UP North Carolina, a federally-funded college access program designed to increase the numbers of low-income students who complete high school and enroll in and complete postsecondary education. He is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the GEAR UP NC program, determining linkages between interventions and outcomes, monitoring the quality of program services, and providing technical assistance to participating school districts. Dr. McBee completed a B.S. in Psychology at Tennessee Technological University (2002), an M.Ed. in Gifted and Creative Education at the University of Georgia (2004), and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia (2006). He was recently named one of four doctoral students of the year by the National Association for Gifted Children. He has presented at annual meetings of the Georgia Association for Gifted Children, the National Association for Gifted Children, the American Educational Research Association, and the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children. His publications appear in Roeper Review, Journal for Secondary Gifted Education, and Gifted Child Quarterly. |
